PENNSIC 49 – COVID 19 UPDATE
24th April 2020
G’Day Everyone,
COVID-19 is touching all of our lives and at this time our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our Pennsic Attendees, Cooper’s Lake Family and Staff:, the entire Community of people in and around Cooper’s Lake Campground we interact and depend upon, and our numerous vendors who supply our event. They are all part of the “Pennsic-War-Family”.
When I took on the office of Mayor of Pennsic 49, I promised to, and was entrusted with, the welfare and safety of the entire Pennsic Family. It is therefore with great sadness that I must inform you today that, we have decided to postpone Pennsic 49, scheduled for July 24, 2020 through August 9, 2020 to July 30, 2021 through August 15, 2021.
This postponement will come as heartbreaking news to many of you – and it has been an exceedingly difficult decision for us to make. Since the first Pennsic Wars at Cooper’s Lake we have been so proud to welcome people from all over the Knowne World to beautiful lands of Aethelmearc, but this year, sadly we cannot gather together as before.
As many of you have read in my previous COVID-19 updates, the impact of this terrible pandemic has effects that reach far past just those that attend Pennsic War. I will not go into all our considerations here again, you can all read my previous two posts that outline many of the factors we considered before making this decision. However, on this one occasion the emotion of Pennsic needed to be removed and the hard decision made.
It has been arranged with Cooper’s Lake Management, that those who have preregistered for Pennsic 49 may have their registrations rolled over to 2021.
If you desire a refund, please go to www.cooperslake.com and log into your pre-registration account.
Even if we cannot be together this July, we remain optimistic that the situation will soon improve. I know we are all very worried about the impact that COVID-19 is having on our loved ones and daily lives. My Pennsic team and I send you our very best wishes. We cannot wait to share time together at Cooper’s Lake again with you all.
Yours,
Sir Gregory of Loch Swan
Mayor
Pennsic 49

Due to the current status of the COVID-19 virus outbreak, you should watch this page for updates on this event.
At current, this event is still a go, but in light of the Kingdom of Northshield's Cancellation of Events until May 8th,   Wisconsin's Executive Order #72 and DHS Emergency Order #5, the event may have to be declared canceled.  Watch here for further updates.

Final Policy on Cancellations of Events and Meetings
In order to help slow down the spread of COVID-19 the Kingdom is canceling all events through the end of March, the 31st. This is based on recommendations from the CDC, health agencies and on what we are seeing in other Kingdoms.
For the same reasons, we are canceling all business and A&S meetings, fighter practices, and any other official SCA gatherings. Conducting business via conference calls and emails is allowed. Please make every effort to publicize to your members how you will do this.
We realize that this could cause financial problems for groups canceling events if they cannot get refunds on deposits or supplies. Therefore, the Kingdom stands ready to assist your group if needed.
If you need assistance here is the process:
*Provide documentation of expenses and the site contract spelling out the costs and any cancellation fees.
*Submit these using the "Cash Reimbursement Request". This is on the Kingdom website under Officers \ Exchequer \ Forms
*Once the Exchequer has verified we have the needed documentation he will call for a vote by the Stallari council in accordance with the laws of the Kingdom.

As we approach the end of March we will re-evaluate and inform you of the plans going forward.
Ealdred, Seneschal on behalf of
Queen Jehanette, Prince Ciaran and Princess Elis

Gulf Wars Canceled

3/13/2020

Picture
To the Known World,
This was a difficult decision, however Gulf Wars 29 is cancelled due to the risk of COVID-19. We, like you, are saddened but this is necessary as we follow the recommendations of the Mississippi Department of Health.

 Per their recommendation:
Among new recommendations as of March 12, 2020:
--Avoid gatherings of 250 people or more, especially if there is evidence of transmission in your county or adjacent counties . If you do attend, remember to practice the hygiene and distancing steps above.
--To prevent illness in those most vulnerable, anyone 65 or older OR with a chronic medical condition should avoid any gathering of 50 people or more.

If you need a refund, please contact the Exchequer@GulfWars.org within 30 days. For other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at Autocrat@GulfWars.org and Seneschal@GleannAbhann.net
Thank you for your understanding and your support.

February's Moot will be April 4th, 2020.  We will also have an Arts/Sciences class on Pie Crust Making 101.  This will be held at Mistress Alexandra der Wassermann and Baron Janvier der Wasserman's house.  Time to be announced.

Thanks for a great Haire Affaire!

While I didn't make it myself, I was told that Haire Affaire was great! Eighty five people attended, many new faces.  Congrats to everyone who made it what it was.
Also, this is a good chance to announce our next event, Artisan's Circle 2020, which will be May 24th, 2020.  There is no charge for this event, as it is held on Mistress Alexandra's and Baron Janvier's private property, but donations towards the food will be greatly appreciated.  There is an RSVP form and the Teach A Class form already up.
The bare-bones page for Poor Man's Pennsic is up, too, but that is still a work in progress.  The only real information on there is the date of the event, so go put that on your calendar!  Plans are in place to be able to have contact forms up for all the event staff, which should help make their jobs a lot easier!

In Service, James Malcom Helme
